Royal Sens celebrates 125th anniversary with new printing press
On 12 October 2021, we celebrated our 125th anniversary. This milestone was festively marked with the official commissioning of a new, innovative printing press by the Mayor of Rotterdam, Mr Aboutaleb. With the new printing press, we are ready to ambitiously continue our company’s growth and enter new markets.
Ready for the future
In its 125 years of existence, Royal Sens has developed from a small printing company to one of the largest quality players in label production in Europe. To this end, in recent years we have invested heavily in the innovation and sustainability of our activities. The purchase of the ultramodern Comexi printing press, with which Royal Sens is one of the first in Europe, is the final piece in this process.

Director of Royal Sens, Jan Geitenbeek: ‘We are extremely proud of what Royal Sens has achieved! By continuing to develop in good and bad times and by focusing on opportunities and possibilities we are where we are today. The introduction of the new press is an important new step. With the press, we can respond more flexibly and in a more environmentally-friendly manner to our customers’ demands, which, due to the growth of the number of private labels, increasingly consist of smaller print runs and more variations in label design. We also have 60% more capacity in house and can now produce flexible food packaging, which means a broadening of our activities.
From a small printing company to an international quality player in labels
Royal Sens was founded in Rotterdam in 1896 as Stadler & Sauerbier. Over the years, our company developed from a small-scale traditional printing company to an award-winning producer of paper labels for food and non-food packaging. In 1996, our company received Royal status and continued under the name Royal Sens (short for Stadler & Sauerbier). In 2008, Royal Sens, which now has a production site in Enschede as well as sales offices in England and Germany, starts producing OPP labels. In 2019, under the wings of new shareholder Quadrum Capital, Royal Sens is rolling out a comprehensive 8 million Euro investment programme to enable further growth.
